This painting is inspired by an Aboriginal story I once heard many years ago. I was struggling after my Mother passed away and searched for a variety of supports to help me through the difficulties. The fable was of a young Hopeful Doe who encountered a greedy monster on the path of the Great Red Road. Without that path, no creature could visit Mother Earth and Father Sky. The forest darkened as did the beautiful animals that once played pastures and drank from the fresh river water. Despite her challenges and surrounding negativity, the Hopeful Doe persisted and she melted the Monster with her heart filled hope and sweet commitment to her Father and Mother.
