Nicole’s roots trace back to Winnipeg, Manitoba—the place that braved the cold winters with the warmth of its residents and the liveliness of its arts scene. It was the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the city's center of creativity and innovation, where she first developed her fascination for art as a little girl, becoming captivated by the intriguing stories etched into paintings.
Her passion for art shone brightly, leading her to Red River College and offering her a deep dive into the world of Advertising Art. This journey granted her exposure to a variety of techniques and a wider understanding of the connection between art and its viewers. It was a puzzle that she was eager to assemble.
Although Nicole explored the picturesque West, making Calgary and Canmore her provisional sanctuaries, the prairies of Winnipeg constantly lured her back. Echoing the sentiment that "Home is where the heart is," her heart has been anchored in Winnipeg, reflecting its multicultural beat and abundant indigenous tradition through her striking pieces of art.
Nicole's artistic expressions breathe life into pointillism, acknowledging her fascination with the minute details and the enchantments they can yield. It feels akin to weaving together her heart and soul, dot by dot, reflecting the intricate beadwork of her Métis heritage. She plays with a spectacular palette of colors, molding them into detailed symbols embedded in the timeless narratives of the Métis culture.
For Nicole, painting feels as comforting as the familiar streets of Winnipeg. It is a symphony of wonder, echoing the tales of her forebears in a vibrant commemoration of identity, resilience, and life itself.
